RELAX: Youth Mental Health Program for Young People
Relax Equip Life-skills Achieve Xercise
1 in 4 young Australians suffer from a mental health issue and these disorders are the key health issues for young people in their teenage years. Mental health issues can affect all aspects of a young person’s life and if these disorders persist then the impact can be felt for decades.
This program provides early, effective intervention targeting young people to support their independence, confidence, resilience and improved mental and physical health. The program includes an introduction to mindfulness and relaxation, neuroanatomy of the brain and stress, yoga, balancing study skills, art and creative exploration, life skills (e.g. budgeting, finances, university prep, problem solving etc), alcohol and other drugs and harm minimisation.
Through this program, we can help to lessen discrimination and stigmatisation of mental health conditions by schools, health professionals and parents working together.
This program is for young adults aged between 12-18 and is run in a school. It runs over a full term with 60-minute sessions each fortnight. There are up to 6 children per session. We can also run this program as a 2-day workshop.
If you would like more information about us running this program in your school or would like someone to contact you please send us a message.
