Creating Calm Families; Parent Management Training
Parenting is tough. It doesn't come with a manual. There is so much advice and information out there that sometimes it is difficult to know who to listen to. One of the main reasons children and adolescents are referred to mental health services is childhood noncompliance, aggression and antisocial behaviour.
Fortunately, there are techniques that have been developed, using research and evidence, to build a parenting toolbox. These techniques help parents learn effective strategies to reduce stress and change behaviours. The program focuses on empowering parents with skills and strategies to make positive changes within the home environment for a calmer, happier and healthier home for everyone.
Parent management training is a psychosocial intervention for children with disruptive behaviours and/or conditions. This program is particularly suited to parents of children with oppositional, aggressive and anti-social behaviour. The 10-week program consists of 2-hour sessions.
We also run Creating Calm Families at schools and early childhood centres.
